some of them are really cool, some of them are not so….. well taste is a personal thing, which is followed by freedom of speech!  Freedom can be defined by someone letting go of what they have to hold on too!

promoting videos online?

Posted by realitypod on April 28, 2009

I often get asked, how do you promote your videos once they are online?  The simple answer is hard work, commitment, late nights and countless hours of checking your stats!

In fact their are many ways to promote your videos online, a great tool to use is tubemogul, this is a very good way to upload your video to many different platforms in one hit!  You will need to create accounts with all the major platforms like, youtube.com, dailymotion, metacafe etc. Once that is done you can upload your video with one upload. Don’t forget to tag your videos so they will show up in the search engines and write a few sentences along with that. Once that is done, it’s really up to you! You have to promote them in the forums, blogs and your own website. Try to focus on the subject of your video and see what else is out there who like or need what you are promoting.

I hope this helps.

Signing off.

where are we?

Posted by realitypod on April 22, 2009

Today I ventured onto the London underground and I could definitely feel that there were less people going to work this morning. I have been out of the rat race for a while, so I don’t really have a good sense on how many people are traveling on the underground these days. It could be that the fares have gone up so people are taking other means of transport, like the buses or cycling and even skipping in the wake of an exciting job at other end of a lovely commute by foot.

Or it could be “dare I say it” the credit crunch effect on society… Many people in the city of london have been laid off.  To be honest, I couldn’t really say, but I get the feeling that it’s a mixture of all the above that are contributing to a much better environment to be traveling by tube in the morning.

So the question is what are people doing? where are they?? What industries are they working in now? or I have to ask, what sectors are existing in todays massive change in economic fiscal development?

If people are at home most of the time, statistics tell me that most of them will be online. Either looking for a job, playing games, watching videos, catching up with their friends on the social networking scene.  Or if they are at work, then they must be developing projects for online, either in a viral video form or producing online video advertising campaigns,  developing e-commerce platforms, managing a database somewhere or assisting in the online marketing development of a site. If a business is in business today, they must be looking at making ways to communicate to their customers more effectively.

One market that is set to do pretty well over the next few years is The out of home digital video networks which is starting to take off in America, so if tests go well then we will be seeing these types of networks in europe.  McDonald’s Expands In-Store Digital Network, McDonald’s has jumped on the bandwagon, rolling out a network of in-store screens in 20 locations. Check out this link to see the article in full McDonald’s . This is a classic move to capture the audience, and discovery channel and Disney are right to do this as we don’t know where are customers are at the moment. Fast food places are posting great profits this year, so customers must be going to Maccy D’s!

McDonald’s is working with Harris Corporation, an international communications and information technology company. Harris Digital Signage solutions will manage, monitor and play out the digital broadcast-quality video content for the McDonald’s Channel. According to Harris, the McDonald’s Channel will “present entertainment, infotainment, messaging and advertising to enhance the customer experience, reinforce the McDonald’s brand and broadcast focused promotional campaigns.”

I think this is a very forward thinking move and breaks down the traditional ways to advertise your products and services to your customers. New broadcast networks are needed and so are the revenues.

X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE – Trailer

Posted by realitypod on April 21, 2009

image001-11

This month sees the release for the X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE, which is a massive follow up to X-Men: The Last Stand released in 2006. No need to introduce this spinoff as the comic book as been around since the 60’s and Wolverine first appearing in the popular comic books in 1974. This tells me that x-men have a massive following. The trend is a dark thrilling movie which begins with the first chapter in the X-Men saga, unites Wolverine with several other legends of the X-Men universe in an epic revolution that pits the mutants against powerful forces determined to eliminate them.

Hugh Jackman reprises the role that made him a superstar as the fierce fighting machine who possesses amazing healing powers, adamantium claws and a primal fury known as berserker rage.  Directed by Gavin Hood (Tsotsi, Rendition) and released in cinemas across the UK on Wednesday 29th April 2009.wolverine-tank-lo

The film also introduces several mutants whose appearances in the movie series have been long anticipated, including Victor Creed, aka Sabretooth (Liev Schreiber – Defiance, The Manchurian Candidate), a feral being of unimaginable power; Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds – Definitely Maybe, The Nine), a high-tech mercenary skilled at swordplay; Fred Dukes, also known as The Blob (Kevin Durand – Smokin’ Aces, 3:10 to Yuma), a morbidly obese and super-strong behemoth; and Gambit, aka Remy Etienne LeBeau (Taylor Kitsch – TVs Friday Night Lights), a Cajun card shark who can manipulate kinetic energy with explosive results.  Also featured is William Stryker (Danny Huston – The Aviator, The Proposition), a figure introduced in “X2” but whose origins and motives are now fully explored. It is Stryker’s complex relationship with Wolverine that defines much of Logan’s past …and future.

Release Date: 29th April 2009

Certificate: 12A
Running Time: 107 mins
Director: Gavin Hood
Cast: Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber, Will.i.am, Danny Huston, Lynn Collins, Taylor Kitsch, Dominic Monaghan and Ryan Reynolds

I will be reviewing this on Monday the 27th of April, so more to follow on this very exciting film! I can’t wait!!!!!

Enjoy!

KNOWING – film trailer

Posted by realitypod on April 4, 2009

quad_knowing

Nicolas Cage takes center stage in this much talked about action packed thriller called KNOWING. It’s about a new generation of students who examines these time capsule contents. The point of the movie is that the research makes for a shocking discovery that pinpoints the accuracy of dates, death tolls and coordinates of every major disaster of the past 50 years.

Box office shows that it has grossed $14.7, so it’s not the biggest box office smash, but it has certainly got something to prove.

In 1958, as part of the dedication ceremony for a new elementary school, a group of students is asked to draw pictures to be stored in a time capsule. But one mysterious girl fills her sheet of paper with rows of apparently random numbers instead.

Fifty years later, a new generation of students examines the capsules contents and the girls cryptic message ends up in the hands of young CALEB KOESTLER. But it is Calebs father, professor JOHN KOESTLER (Nicolas Cage), who makes the startling discovery that the encoded message predicts with pinpoint accuracy the dates, death tolls and coordinates of every major disaster of the past 50 years. As John further unravels the documents chilling secrets, he realizes the document foretells three additional events the last of which hints at destruction on a global scale and seems to somehow involve John and his son. When Johns attempts to alert the authorities fall on deaf ears, he takes it upon himself to try to prevent more destruction from taking place.

With the reluctant help of DIANA WAYLAND and ABBY, the daughter and granddaughter of the now-deceased author of the prophecies, Johns increasingly desperate efforts take him on a heart-pounding race against time until he finds himself facing the ultimate disaster and the ultimate sacrifice.

SOUNDS LIKE TEEN SPIRIT – review

Posted by realitypod on April 2, 2009

teenspirit1Quirky, light hearted, fun and an adventure into the world of eastern european pop culture. This pop-umentary or documentary follows parents from eastern europe who have entered their children into a “Junior eurovison song contest.” What’s funny, is that it’s all true, It’s not fiction.  Director Jamie J Johnson, has done brilliantly well in spotting this little jem and follows a few families from around Europe and documents their build up to the competition.

What’s lovable is that most of us in the UK have never heard of this competition and yet it seems to be well supported and some of the children take it quite seriously. The fun part is just the participation and going on the journey with these quirky families.  It’s hilarious watching these children practise for the competition and listening to their ideas on who is going to win.
